Portable Sanitation Equipment is our Business! The perk test is performed where the septic tank and field lines converge, this is located by plotting the system. Once this is determined, a soil bore is dug with a back hoe to reveal a profile of the subsurface from grade to 48 inches. Based on the colors of the soil and physical texture, suitability for subsurface field lines can be determined. If soil is found to be suitable, three more post holes will dug and then saturated for a period of time.

The rate at which water is absorb in the new holes determines the number of field lines that will be necessary for your new system. Should the property in question perk, marker flags will be placed to note the location of the new tank and the field lines, and then installation can begin, pending, of course, Health Department approval.
Of note: The Health Department handles scheduling for perk tests and any and all pass or fail of perk tests. This is not a determination that is made by Brendel's.
